WELCOME TO THE WORLD NILS!

Soooo cute

Congratulations!

On May 24, our friends, Henrik & Maria, got a healthy baby boy, named Nils.

Another future boyfriend for Vendela:-)
Can't wait til I'll see you guys back home this summer !
Picture of Nils taken by his parents Henrik and Maria.

ALMOST WALKING

One tired little princess, curling up among her toys

So proud over her achivements.... well not only V, but mom and dad too.....

V is now a big girl, and all of a sudden she grabbed her walking stroller and just rose and.... walked!!! So now this is the new, hot thing to do - over and over again!

VICTORIA´S DAY @ THE JACKETT´S

V and Gabriella playing side by side.... not so much with each other, besides from occasional hair pulling, pinching or pacifier stealing:-)
Monday was a national holiday (Victoria's Day)=day off work.... and we were invited to Jeff, Linda and Gabriella for brunch. It is always great to come to someone else's place, since they have different toys:-) V is quite bored with hers so she was all exited about Gabriella's toys!

OTTAWA SENATORS TO STANELY CUP

After the game Elgin Street closed down and gave room for thousands of people who wanted to celebrate their team....By the magnitude of the celebration you could almost think they'd already won the Stanely Cup:-). People cheering, screaming, cars honking the horn and Sens flags everywhere. Fun to watch!
Ottawa was a ghost town on Saturday Afternoon as EVERBODY were watching the game, so we decided to do so as well.... as seen even the cops are having trouble staying away from the TV.

On Saturday Ottawa Senators played the Buffalo Sabres and if they would win that game they would be in the Stanely Cup Final - well, they won after an intense game, with Daniel Alfredsson scoring the winning goal in over time. "Alfie" is now the first European Captian ever to lead a team to The Stanely Cup. Damn we Swedes are good! :-)

OTTAWA

Diaper change and play time in the park. In the background a statue to honour all the soldiers participated in wars and the Parliament's clock tower

V has the ability to draw attention to her.... this little girl from Russia ( I think....) became very fond of V and played with her for several minutes.

The Parliament

It was time to collect my Birthday gift and this meant we headed for Canada's Capital, Ottawa on Friday afternoon. After a loooooong trip (we got caught in a traffic jam due to an accident for two hours) we arrived at 7-ish at night. We stayed at a gorgeous Inn & Spa, named The Carmichael Inn & Spa, located just a short walk from Downtown.

We had great weather on Saturday and walked around the city. Of course we had to see the Parliament Building. Ottawa is amazingly small (only 750 000 habitants) - I thought it would be bigger - and unlike Toronto, it's a really beautiful town with lots of beautiful buildings/architecture. Ottawa is also known for the Tulip Festival (read more @ http://www.tulipfestival.ca), so on Sunday we headed to one of the big tulip sites, named Commissioners Park, to see hundreds of thousands of tulips...unfortunately this was the very last day of the Festival so many of the tulips were "överblommade" - don't know the english word for it... but you could say...dead....I guess...

CANADIAN MOTHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

How cute isn't this???
It's not easy to try to get both of the babies to look in the camera at once... evidently V found something else more interesting to look at.

Jeff and Magnus sharing baby stories -or was it sports talk (?), neh... couldn't be- while watching their daugthers play.

Last Sunday, May 13th, was the Canadian Mother's Day. Strangely enough I didn't get particularly celebrated.... but anyways Jeff, Linda and Gabriella came over for som BBQ in the nice weather and then we all celebrated with a nice meal and some superb wine.

V has another chance of celebrating the best mom in the world on May 27 , when it's the Swedish Mother's Day. And of course she will remember that....right dad?

OUR GARDEN IS A ZOO

Benke - this one is for you:-)

As already mentioned on this blog, Toronto is packed with squirrels and our backyard is no exception. We also on a regular basis see rakoons, skunks and ground hogs (which according to my dictionary is Murmeldjur in swedish).

PLAYGROUND FUN

Saturday fun at the local playground! V just loves to ride the swings! During the week the place is crowded with kids and their Filippino nannys and in the weekends, kids and their parents. It is nice to have a small park and a playground just a couple of hundreds meters from the house. We try to go there as often as we can with V.

TRUE LOVE

Me and V playing with the camera - puss på dig min älskling!

FLOWER POWER

I just love tulips and there are some in our backyard.... they light up the whole place!

The Lilacs in our garden is just about to burst - "Den blomstertid nu kommer....."

Became a bit nostalgic as I passed a neighbour's flower bed and saw this cute Forget-me-not (Förgätmigej or Myosotis Palustris) which is the official flower of Dalsland, my hometown region in Sweden.

Summer is here.... warm, nice, sunny weather and lots of beautiful flowers! I just had to shoot some pics to show you all.

YUMMIE FOR THE TUMMY

V is trying her first ice cream, and just as anticipated, she just couldn't get enough! She was very upset when M took it away to finish it off:-)

BASEBALL

Baseball, beer, good company and sunshine - no more to ask for !
M bought this Giant Jays hand "for V"....yeah right:-)

Action picture
As babysitters wasn't an issue the past week, we headed to a Sunday baseball game with Gwen and Martin. The Toronto Blue Jays vs. Texas Rangers at Rogers Centre. This was the first game for the season with the roof down and it was really nice in the sun. It was a fun game and the Jays won with 7-3.

STONE SCULPTURES

Were down by the Beaches last weekend and as seen the weather was pretty nice. Saw this guy on the Beach creating balancing stone sculptures - I don't know how he managed to get them stay on top of each other, but he pulled it off.

HEJ & BÄÄÄÄÄÄ

Playtime!

- Hej, hej! and Bäää (the sound of the sheep) are her favourite "words" right now. She waves when she sees people and when they are leaving. When she sees any animal it's the sound "Bäää" to imitate them:-). Just waiting for her to say Mamma... it just has to come before pappa!

20+ degrees requires eating outside! Of course we did some BBQ-ing and V seems to wonder why she didn't get what the rest of us had.

MUSKOKA TRIP

Grandpa Nils and V playing, clapping hands!

Towards the end Tomoko got a little tired, so M is giving her an helping hand

Nils, Tomoko and V out enjoying the fresh Muskoka air and beautiful trails at Taboo Resort. Unfortunately the Golf Course wasn't open, so no playing for father and son this time...

As Christmas gift, Nils & Tomoko got a get-away to a nice Muskoka Resort when they we're going to visit, so to fulfill this gift we left for Taboo Golf, Spa and Resort in Gravenhurst, Muskoka from Friday to Saturday. A beautiful resort in fantastic surroundings. We had a superb dinner and a great time, taking a nice walk in the woods to look for Canadian mooses (without any luck - but we saw a turtle!) before heading back to T.O.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG & GRANDPARENTS IN TOWN!

V talking on the phone - so fun watching. She says Hej and has the right grip...impressive how fast they learn.

Tomoko by the Horseshoe Fall, Niagara Falls. A must-see for every visitor:-)

V's first contact with grass.... not at all impressed. Scary stuff!

Finally the spring has sprung for real! Now we have had nice weather for about a 1½ weeks with temperatures between 15-23 degrees. Sweet.

It has been a couple of weeks since last and during this time we have had M's parents here for a visit. It was great having them and also to get enthusiastic babysitters ;-). They left yesterday for New York City.

SOOO HOT!

Just couldn't resist showing you my superhot, sexy, birthdaygift-to-myself
red high heels. Nice huh? Just waiting for the occasion to use them:-)
